Do you need a notary service?

If you are not a Polish citizen, remember, that you should have a valid ID document with you for your appointment with a notary, usually, this will be your passport. Please be reminded that additional documents confirming your personal data may be required, in particular, your residence permit and a certificate of PESEL (Poland resident identification number) assignment.

Notarial acts are performed in Polish. If you do not speak Polish fluently, i.e. in a way that enables you to fully understand a notarial act, the law absolutely requires to use the services of a sworn interpreter. Arranging an interpreter’s appointment and paying their fee is your responsibility. Your trusted person who does not have official authorizations may not act as an interpreter for purposes of notarial acts. The Notary may refuse to proceed if she determines that you do not speak Polish sufficiently.

This Notary is fluent in English and does not require an interpreter to determine the details of your case and to book an appointment – however, a sworn interpreter will be necessary for the notarial act itself.
